There’s an old saying that “desperate times require desperate measures”.
In 1999 I was a very prosperous professional who had a life changing event that soon made me “desperate”. I contracted a life threatening disease which forced the sale of my business in 1999. We had a large amount of money from the sale of my practice. So, I set out to find a way to replace my previously large income with something that did not require any physical effort because of my health. I quickly lost the $150,000 I had to work with. I tried everything from stock trading, day trading, forex trading, flipping real estate and even gambling in the casinos in Atlantic City and Las Vegas. You would think that of all those possibilities – the LEAST likely to work would be found in the casino. I did too. We both would have been wrong I am glad to say.
However, this answer I found in the casino came with a very high price. I bought every system I could find advertised on the Internet and everywhere in between. I spent tens of thousands on this information and it was worthless. I gave up many times. My wife and my family were sure I was turning into a compulsive loser and degenerate gambler. I can’t believe she stayed with me for all those years (maybe she continued to believe in me despite the evidence I kept failing – that is what hope and loyalty are made of).
I literally dragged her all over the globe searching for the answer. We traveled to London, Canada and countless states here in this country hoping the next system seller actually had “the Answer” and would be different. The trouble was that every expert and “professional gambler” claimed to have the answer – for a nice price of course. Their “private or secret” methods were a total waste of time and money. After a while, I realized that after all the hours and study I had put into my quest that I knew more than they did. So, I put together all the workable pieces of the “winning puzzle” from my thousands of hours of live play and more important, research and finally figured out how to beat the casino once and for all.
This brings to mind another old saying…”that a persistent person who continues to fail never makes their last attempt to succeed”. In other words, when searching for something, you always find it in the “last place” you look.
That’s because once you find (like your lost keys) it, you quit looking. That’s nice for us but what about you? This thought reminds me of the quote by Willie Sutton, the infamous bank robber when asked…”why do you keep robbing banks”…his answer was classic…”because that’s where the money is”. Now that we KNOW for a fact we can win regularly, we love going to the casino. By nature I love playing games anyway. Even more fun is being paid to play those games. How many times have you heard a pro golfer or baseball player say “this is the greatest job in the world – getting paid a huge amount of money to play a game I would play for FREE” Look, this is a serious money making opportunity – for all of us. We don’t have the time or the energy to play games (outside the casino).
